Just like how today cinema lovers are in frenzy with the excitement of waiting to see how a young director Pa.  Dharmadurai was directed by one of Rajini's favorite directors Rajasekar and produced by S. Ramanathan and S. Sivaraman under the banner of Rasi Kalamandhir. S. Ramanathan is the producer of Rajini's Hindi film "Geraftar". Dharmadurai is a remake of Vishnuvardhan's Kannada super hit film Deva. In the Telugu version, Mohan Babu was the hero & titled Maa Inti Kath which didn't do well as expected. Later Dharmadurai was produced in Tamil and it was a blockbuster. Following this success, it was produced in Hindi by new producer Dilip Kankariya and directed by KC Bokadia titled Tyagi. Dharmadurai first paper advertisement was given on 14/4/1990 and it was titled "Kaalam Maaripochu". Padikkadavan - The Film Which Made Rajini Bigger Commercial Star

 1985 is an unforgettable year for Rajinikanth for completing 10 years in the industry with 100 films landmark too. And made his presence felt till Bollywood also became pan Indian hero from the South after Kamal Haasan. 1985 began and ended stunningly for Rajini with Naan Sigappu Manithan and Padikkadavan. Padikkadavan was a huge celebration for fans and a classic victory for Rajini after the back to back flops of Un Kannil Neer Vazhindal and Sri Raghavendra. Padikkadavan was remake of Amitabh's Kuddhar. Sri Raghavendra - Superstar's Devotional Landmark

1985 was the landmark year for Rajini as he completed 100 films in 10 years from his debut in 1975. Rajini took a bold decision to do a religious movie for his 100th film. Rajini, being Kannada legendary hero Rajkumar fan, had seen his Kannada film Mantralaya Mahime where Rajkumar portrayed Sri Raghavendra. Rajini persuaded K Balachander and SP Muthuraman to do the film. The film was done with a lot of conviction and discipline. None of the crew had non-vegetarian food and some even observed fast on Thursdays in reverence to the Lord's presence. The movie got an immense craze as Mohan also did a role in the film. Panakkaran - The Golden Decade of 90's Rajini!

 Rajini began the 80's decade with blockbuster Billa and ended with blockbuster Mappillai. Same the way in 90's decade Panakkaran was Rajini's first release becoming a blockbuster and ending with gigantic blockbuster Padayappa! Panakkaran was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's Lawaaris and remade in Telugu as Naa Desam with NTR! Later in Tamil as Panakkaran.
